Taking a critical look at the prevailing thinking on various structures and institutions, the author uses insights derived from his comprehensive studies of kinship, marriage, religion, and grassroots politics in advancing their studies. He points out the strengths and weaknesses of these structures and institutions and the direction in which they are changing with respect to modern time.

As against the overwhelming emphasis on the hierarchical dimension of caste, this book focuses on its horizontal dimension, that is, every caste’s population spread over villages and towns in an area, its internal organization and differentiation based on networks of kinship, marriage, patron-client relationship, and role of endogamy versus hypergamy in maintaining its boundaries. The tribes are also seen in the same perspective, emphasizing the tribe-caste homology.

Finally, the book provides information on�important issues like policy of reservations, the reliability of censuses and surveys of castes and tribes, removal of untouchability, growth of organized religion and secularization.

The 8th edition of this book retails for $251. Yes ladies and gentlemen, school is EXPENSIVE. Luckily, my amazing professor told us that either the 6th or 7th edition would suffice as they changes made for the newest edition were minimal at best. A great book for beginner readers......

What a great book for children learning to read. The rhyming and story make it easy for children to follow and learn their site words. Can't wait to read it to my niece who just started kindergarten. Make this book part of your children's library.

I downloaded this book when it was available for free on the Kindle. It features nice colorful illustrations and a simple basic story line. My son was able to read it on his own to his little sister. It was perfect for creating that family time. The rhymes are creative and fun.

I think this book would be most useful for vet techs but dog breeders and trainers would ...

After I was shown an xray of my dog's abdomen at the vet's office I realized I don't have a clear idea of where the organs are in a dog. The book includes detailed drawings of the bones, muscles, internal organs, blood vessels, and nerves. For the skull the book shows variation in head shapes (think bulldog versus greyhound). Although it is overly detailed for the typical dog owner, I find it interesting because I teach human anatomy and I am just learning where everything is located in a dog. I think this book would be most useful for vet techs but dog breeders and trainers would probably also find it useful.

For veterinary students

This book is best suited for veterinary students. It was written for vet students in mind, and has tips on how to study and remember different parts of a dog's body. For the average pet owner wanting to learn more about Fido's inner workings or just to communicate better with their veterinarian, however, this book is probably too technical and goes into too much detail. We returned it.

Really great Dog Anatomy Workbook!

This is an incredible book!! I teach canine massage therapy certification programs and am switching to this anatomy book the next time I offer my training. It is comprehensive, yet easy to understand. My current students looked at the copy that I ordered and several of them are planning on ordering it as well!

makes no sense

The author, Ken Addison, lays out a program for making husbands more attentive to their wives, helping more with the housework and children's care, and "being happier". The method "orgasm denial" is Victorian at best, stupid at worst. It doesn't work, never worked, and makes no sense from either the man's or the woman's point of view. Don't waste your money on this book.
